SEVENTY years ago, just after 11pm on May 10, Eaglesham ploughman David McLean heard a loud bang...

From the window of his farmhouse he saw a parachutist floating down towards the field of Floors Farm and when he ran to the site he found the burning wreckage of a German Messerschmitt and an injured German officer who identified himself as Hauptmann (Captain) Albert Horn.

Her told the startled farm worker in English: "I have an important message for the Duke of Hamilton". In reality he was Hitler's henchman Rudolf Hess.

Now the seniors of the Eastwood Park Youth Theatre have made a short 10 minute film entitled "It Happened Here", inspired by the incident, and they premiered it on July 1 at the theatre during the Young Promoters Band Night.
