If you've ever tried to wade your way methodically through the plethora of advertising pages featuring myriad ponies for sale in your favourite horsy magazines, you'll know how long it can take to identify the ones that are genuinely of interest to you.

So just imagine how much easier and quicker the whole process would be if all you had to do was select the criteria for the type of pony you're looking for with a few clicks of the mouse… You could specify the geographical area you're prepared to travel within to view ponies, plus the height, breed and colour of your ideal four-legged friend. Simple!

Looking for ponies for sale can be quite bewildering - especially if you're new to the horse buying game. As you'll quickly discover, ponies come in an immense variety of different shapes, sizes and colours, so it's sensible to draw up a list of the attributes that are most important to you and/or your family.

For example, when narrowing down the listings of ponies for sale, you need to choose the right height of pony for the wannabe Nick (or Nicola!) Skelton in your family. And if you have two or three children who are going to be sharing one pony, then this might involve a slight compromise height-wise.

In a child's pony, temperament is particularly important, so check the descriptions that are generally given online with each pony - no one is going to confess that their horse has a vice, so you'll need to become an expert at reading between the lines of horse ads.

'Lively ride' could mean "will not stop", and "bombproof" could mean "difficult to get him to even break into a trot far less a canter".

To ensure you make the right choice from the ponies for sale, don't buy the first pony you view. Select several that meet your specifications and try them all.
