Ten year-old Lucy Ann Fairbairn of Thornliebank Primary School was a ‘WOW’ as headteacher.

P6 pupil Lucy Ann took over for a day from regular hot seat holder Maria Speirs.

Lucy Ann ‘ran’ the school on Friday, shadowing Maria as part of the school’s World of Work (WOW) drive to let the youngsters know what skills are needed for different jobs.

Maria said: “Lucy Ann did an excellent job as head for the day. She accompanied me right through from registration in the morning, visiting classes with me, attending to issues that came up during the day and getting a good idea of what it’s like being head teacher.”

Lucy Ann said: “It was great. I would like to be a head teacher when I leave school so I’ll be working hard at school to ensure that I can when I grow up.”
