The sixth East Renfrewshire storytelling festival will be launched next month. The festival, which will run until 9 April, will feature 20 storytellers who will bring stories from around the world.
Children from local nurseries and primary and secondary schools will exhibit their artwork in an exhibition called The Art of Puppetry which will be held in Eastwood Park Theatre gallery from Monday 29 until Sunday 11 April.
Between the same dates the theatre’s gallery will also host the screening of winning films in a primary schools competition. Children had to create puppets, sets and scripts to produce a short puppet show which was then filmed.
Eastwood Park Theatre will stage a number of events during the storytelling festival including the Blackeye Theatre’s Alfie on Friday 12 March and a story of love, life and death …… Les Amoreux on Saturday 13 March.
Scottish folk band Breabach will play Carmichael Hall on Saturday 20 March and the following evening Former Love and Money frontman James Grant plays the same venue.
At the Edinburgh Quartet’s concert on Monday 29 March the performance will include a peice by pupils of St Ninian’s High School. Shetlanders Fiddlers Bid will also bring their dynamic act to Eastwood Park Theatre on Wednesday 7 April.
Other theatre events will include Pobby and Dingan at 3pm on Sunday 28 March and at 1.20pm on Wednesday 31 March.
